————————————————-

I’m proud to announce the release of RSDownloader 2.0. The next version of the batch download tool for the Rapidshare.com Premium service.

Quite a lot of new features (about a zillion), the program is nevertheless more simple and stable than ever. I’ve also provided an online Quickstart manual (link include in the installation and in the program). After a while I’ll also make a FAQ.

RSDownloader 2

This is a list of all the new features (changelog):

  • Pauzing and resuming downloads (even after a restart).
  • Restoring queue on restart
  • Autologin
  • Saving links to file (for exchanging links)
  • Saving queues to a file (to resume/load later
  • Faster login and link checker
  • Easy to use (un)installer
  • Scheduling downloads
  • Entire new download framework (built by me :-) , possibly released opensource someday)
  • Update functionality
  • Ability to copy passwords to clipboard
  • Open finished files on doubleclick (requested)
  • Log file

I suggest the first thing you do is read some bits in the QuickStart guide, configure the program (account / directory).

Note: The following things are required.

Multiplatform release!

The multiplatform (Java) version of the program is ready for release (with very limited features vs. the Windows version). This version has been tested by a couple of users on both Linux & MacOSX systems.

Linux & Mac test version

Since several people asked me if it was possible to port my Premium downloader for Rapidshare.com to other platforms
such as Linux, MacOSX, … I started building a POC (Proof of Concept) of such an application. I have to say it works very well
actually and I find the GUI of this multiplatform POC quite nice! I’ve got some Java programming experience so the programming
itself wasn’t that hard to write.

So, let’s get to the point, what do you need for this?

- Any OS Java supports (Mac, Windows, Linux)
- Enable direct downloads (instructions below)
- The Java Runtime Installed, minimum 1.5 (java.sun.com, look for JRE)
- Some knowledge about executing JAR files on your OS. (not that hard, just google it)

You should enter your username (login ID) in numerical form, not the alias you can supply.

I’m not really going to develop this POC a lot further because it would be silly to program 2 downloaders…
If this multiplatform one is more used than my Windows version I’ll probably focus on this one.

Please note that this program might still have some minor issues (since this is a POC).

The program is not yet available for download since I’m looking for people who can test this on Mac/Linux, mail me for the JAR at d.dierickx@gmail.com

Enabling ‘Direct Downloads’

Remark: If your downloads fail and are low in file size (4-5kb), follow these 2 steps…

Since some people seem to have trouble enabling direct downloads on their Rapidshare login page, here are some screencaps (first goto rapidshare.com and login with your username and password):

Click ‘Options’, you should see this page:

Enable direct downloads and press the ‘Save’ button at the end of the page… The program should work fine now!

Hope this helps!

Version 1.0 Release!

OK so here it is, the latest release of the RS-Downloader, available for download HERE, don’t forget the following needs to be done before using the program:

  • You should mark the ‘direct downloads‘ in your rapidshare options on the website.
  • You should have installed the .NET framework 2.0 (usually this is already done…)

Some documentation / HOWTO material will follow in the next couple of days. Don’t forget to post feedback here on the blog or to mail me at:

d.dierickx@gmail.com

Have fun!

Also: If you wish to support the program, feel free to post links on all kinds of forums ;)

Some screens of the new version!

The new version is almost finished, here are some screencaps…

Above: The main download screen

Above: The downloadlink grabber and checker…

Above: Adding non-rapidshare links

Some new features include:

- Improved usability & stability
- Stopping / removing downloads
- Better link grabbing
- Console Mode (you can schedule downloads now, no user interference required, handy for nightly downloading :-))
- VISTA Compatible

Be sure to post some feedback / request for the new version, normally it’ll be out start of next week! I have to say I’m very pleased with the popularity of the previous versions, over 5000+ people are already using the program!
